Wonders and Whimsy for World Book Day 2026

Here at St Catherine’s Convent, we’re not just focused on academics and sports, but we also have  fun and exciting days, one of them being World Book Day.  St Catherine’s encouraged reading by letting the learners dress up as their favourite book characters or as anything associated with reading and it’s safe to say our girls did not disappoint. Our best -dressed phase winners put their absolute best foot forward coming dressed as the Joker, the Queen of Hearts, Paddington Bear and a frog.   Some girls arrived in their pyjamas as a way of remembering the times when they were little and had stories read to them before bedtime. Others were really creative and showed up as punctuation, such as a semi-colon.   But World Book Day isn’t just for the learners of St Catherine’s but also the teachers. Teachers came dressed in absolutely amazing outfits such as The Mad Hatter and another as Lady Macbeth.

Hopefully this will inspire you to also celebrate the wonders of reading books, comics and graphic novels.  Remember “A book is like a garden carried in the pocket” and hopefully you’ll be inspired to start your own magical adventure of reading.
