On 16 of August 2024, SCC celebrated its annual Winter Sports Day, facilitated by the Grade 11s, to celebrate the winter sports season coming to an end. There were a variety of games at the different stations and sports such as hockey, netball and soccer.

This year’s Winter Sports Day was one for the books. Grades 4 to 10 took part in the plethora of games at the different stations, including: Guess the cup order, What’s in the box, Guess the song and The Escape Room, just to name a few. One student mentioned, “The lyric and song station was my favourite.”

The different grades also went head-to-head in games of hockey, netball and soccer as well as competing to see who had the most spirit. After all the hard work, the winners were … drum roll please …THE GRADE NINES!

In addition, this year the grades were given themes ranging from Y2K and hip-pop to disco, which were executed creatively by each grade. Music ensured an amazing atmosphere all day: from song choices that led to the formation of dance circles to drums used for war cries.

The Grade 11s put on a truly memorable Sports Day and the rest of the grades added to the energetic mood, making this year’s sports day another success for SCC. As one exhausted but happy learner said, “Our Grade 11s made sure that it was a sports day like we had never seen before.”
