Our High School Hockey teams started the season off on the 29th of April with their first league match against Hoërskool Noordheuwel. Our First and U/15 teams both played, both showing great spirit, determination and a love for Hockey. Our U/15 team held their heads high despite a 3-1 loss, and our First Team celebrated their well-deserved 5-1 win. Before the First Team’s match, everyone was delighted to see a swarm of St Catherine’s learners coming to cheer on the team.  They created a tunnel for both Hoërskool Noordheuwel’s team and our First Team before giving a war cry to get the game started. While we’d like to think our skills alone won the match, I’m sure the intimidating nature of that war cry added to our victory. The game seemed to last forever and after 4 green cards, two to each team, our supporters were on the verge of a heart attack as the ball moved across the field. It was a brilliant start to the season, and our Hockey teams can’t wait to get back on the Hockey field in preparation for future matches.
